When my oldest sister called and asked me if she could fly me out to Denver to take my nephews senior portraits I had to say yes! I’m not going to lie, I was in shock that my nephew is a senior! My sister adopted him when I was a senior in high school so it blows my mind that he is now a high school senior and needing portraits taken.
I flew into Denver over Labor Day weekend for our planned portrait session. That Friday night we went to his football game and it was incredible to watch him play. He’s the one of the captains of his high school football team and plays cornerback on his team. You may be wondering why I am telling you about his football game . . .
One thing you don’t know yet about my nephew is that he was born with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and doesn’t have any fingers on his left hand.
That’s kind of a big deal if you want to play sports, especially football. You kind of need two hands to catch a football. Mikhail has proven that with a big enough dream anything is possible. Mik has been told that he will never play and he refused to accept that. Mikhail has worked his butt off and because of his dedication he has not only received scholarship offers to play for college but has been invited to play for the Blue Grey All American Football team in Dallas, TX. He is such an inspiring young man with an incredible soul.
For this portrait session we found this cool alley in downtown Boulder, CO. We immediately fell in love with the textures and colors and knew this would be the perfect location for his session!
