You guys, I love being a child photographer. I love watching as they come out of their shell and become more confident in front of the camera. I love seeing their personalities come through. I just love creating portraits of children!
One of my favorite things in the world is seeing the look on the child’s face when you show them the picture you just took of them on the back of your camera. Their face lights and they can’t wait to take more.
I find this to be especially true for the tween girls. The age between 10-14 is such an awkward time for young girls because their bodies and hormones are changing and what was used to be acceptable is no longer acceptable. Body image and self esteem issues really begin to surface at this age and if I can be instrumental in reminding them that they are beautiful and strong and incredible just by being themselves then I am a happy person!
This sweet girl is my daughter‘s best friend and she hates dresses – like loathes them with all of her heart and she hates pink. I asked her if we could try a few pictures of her in a pink dress for a look I wanted after we captured her in her preferred outfit – t-shirt and overalls. She agreed and you guys it was like magic watching her rock the dress she swore she would hate. She fell in love and even ended up buying a pink dress for her 5th grade graduation!
I hope you enjoy these portraits as much as her family did.
These fields only bloom in the spring and I cannot wait to visit them again!
