As a family photographer here in Las Vegas, NV I get to meet and get to know so many cool families! I knew this mama from church years ago but over the years we lost touch. I was ecstatic when she reached out to me on my Facebook page to capture her family portraits and reconnect with her.
When we were choosing on the best location mom already knew that they were going to be wearing blue so we decided on the Wetlands Park. The greenery there is so gorgeous and complements blue clothes so well. We met in May while the weather was perfect and had a blast catching up and creating beautiful portraits.
One thing I loved the most about this family was that they already knew exactly what pictures they needed. Mom wasn’t afraid to speak up and make sure we got the shots she needed for her walls. Before learning photography I was that mom, with a list of groupings I needed for my walls. It makes my job easy when clients know exactly what they want for a successful portrait session.
As an added bonus their two kids were incredibly photogenic! The daughter is 5 and knows how to rock a session. Wait until you see her individual shots and you will see exactly what I mean. She practically posed herself and let me do my job. We were holding hands and best of friends by the end of the session!
Little man was photogenic BUT definitely camera shy. The number one trick to handle camera shy kids is to just hang out and let them do their thing, that’s when the magic happens. In those moments it’s important to not force them to look at the camera and smile but to just be an observer. By giving them their space you can create real, raw emotions and really capture them vs a cheesy fake smile. Mom wasn’t sure I’d get any of him and was thrilled when she saw the images I captured him at her ordering session!
We had so much fun capturing portraits and I hope you enjoy looking through them!
