November is one of my favorite months in the year because everyone focuses on what we are thankful for. This morning I woke up and I had the genius idea to design and create a Gratitude Journal as a keepsake for my family and to show my gratitude to all of you I decided to share the cut files with you! Happy Thanksgiving month!
Not only am I going to give you the cut file I’m going to walk through how to use the files to create your own family gratitude journal.
Today I am giving you the cut files for the cover through page 2 and will release one page per day for the rest of the month. This is going to be lots of fun and I’m excited to get started!
Patterned Paper – I am using a large paper pack I bought from Jo-ann’s
White cardstock for printing
Chipboard – I am using Silhouette Of America Silhouette Chipboard, 12 by 12-Inch, 25-Pack
2 book Rings
Start by opening the Gratitude Journal file
Cut one set of Chipboard covers to create a sturdy base then cut 2 sets of the covers to cover the chipboard with.
Next cut the border and the 31 Days of Gratitude cutout. The paper I used was very thin so I used the following settings – Copy Paper with blade set to 2 and a speed of 1. I did one cut where I just cut the outer edge and used the sketch pens to write the words. If you choose to do that, write with the sketch pens first then without unloading the mat cut the border.
Then I cut another layer on top and reverse weeded the cutout to ensure nothing ripped while removing it from the mat.
Finally, I used the print to cut option by first setting the page set up to the right size paper you are printing on.
Next set registration marks – style – your silhouette, mine is a cameo
Go to file – print page set up and select the right paper size you are using, then send to printer. I have a wide format printer that prints 12×12’s beautifully – Epson WorkForce WF-7510 Wireless All-in-One Wide-Format Color Inkjet Printer, Copier, Scanner, Fax (C11CA96201) Seriously, this baby is amazing!
After printing the file place it on your mat and send to printer. Your silhouette will search for the registration marks, make sure your silhouette is in a well lit area. My first prints wouldn’t find the marks but then I printed again and it worked – weird, I know.
Do the same steps above to cut out page 1 and 2
For the Assemble of the gratitude journal
Super simple – glue the patterned papers onto the chipboard.
Glue a patterned paper to the backs of the Day 1 and Day 2 pages.
Glue the tags to the opposite sides of the journaling pages then distress/paint as you wish!
I hope you enjoyed my first ever tutorial for the Silhouette and the Free Cut Files! These cut files will be free until the end of November and then they will be placed in my shop. Let me know if you have any questions. Enjoy!
